Scene It: FollowSpot does it again! ENCORE!

With a series of sold out shows, it's very clear that the Kalk Bay Theatre audiences love a great encore. Then it's only right that the latest FollowSpot show, ENCORE is a rambunctious reprise of their much-loved wildly energetic highlights. This variety show makes for a great audience treat as we head into this festive season.

With a few tweaks and the addition of a new amigo, FollowSpot may be stepping away from their traditional French-flair inspired December shows, but there's no need for distress as ENCORE will still leave audiences sizzling this summer with its rock-inspired compilation of dance, song, and comedy skits.

A stand-out is the return of the amusing Mariachi Band. With Gareth Christie and his great guitar skills joining the original sambrero-brothers, Liam McDermott, Ash and Brad Searle, audiences are guaranteed even more escapades and silliness. The guys combine their well-timed comedy and musical prowess to leave you hollowing with laughter... Olé!

The featured dance routines by Ash and Michele la Trobe, as well as Brad and la Trobe, are again exquisite to behold. McDermott and Hannah Hishin too are again absolutely amazing with the vocal magic they add to the show. And not to forget Vanessa Harris, the linchpin of the troupe, who brings everything together with loads of sass and talent. Harris has a great rapport with Kalk Bay Theatre audiences; she cleverly draws audiences in to make everyone feel part of the rock party.

ENCORE may be paying homage to the best of FollowSpot over the last few years, but this show is definitely not a paint-by-numbers, lazy recap. In reviving some of their favourite acts, they've upped the energy and performance level to turn already amazing show moments into the perfect high octane, rock-n-roll inspired end-of-year show.

This latest FollowSpot delight is a sensational melange, a varied mixture, a happy medley. ENCORE will appeal to true FollowSpot fans, as well as fun-loving theatre-goers who have yet to join the party— ENCORE is a great way to get hooked on the Kalk Bay Theatre experience.
