Marmalade Productions is proud to present Divas 2018 featuring international award-winning superwoman, Karyn White. Karyn will be supported by the cream of SA’s Divas. Unathi, Paxton Fielies and Sasha Lee Davids in JHB. Paxton, Sasha Lee with G&T and Rene Johnson in CT. Paxton, Sasha Lee and G&T in PE.
She possesses one of the most memorable, distinctive voices ever heard in popular music. She's an accomplished singer/songwriter who etched herself into music history with her smash hit song, the female anthem, “Superwoman”. That song made international waves, selling over a million units, being certified Gold and named the Billboard R&B Song of the Year in 1989. She IS a super woman. She's Karyn White.
Established in 2011, Karyn opened the doors with Karyn White Enterprises Inc. (KWE) a dynamic multi-platform media company offering diverse and uplifting entertainment across the broad media landscapes of music, television and film. White released her long-awaited album "Carpe Diem" on her own label and distributed through Light Year/EMI.

Currently, White's new movie and soundtrack, Gale &The Storm, is a story loosely based on Karyn's life and manager Jay King, legendary music producer & founder of Grammy award winning group "Club Nouveau”. The movie's synopsis revolves around a revolutionary music producer who links up with a legendary soul singer and tries to convince her to sing again. White executive produced, co-wrote and starred in the film.
White also executive produced, co-wrote and recorded 8 songs on the soundtrack for "Gale & the Storm”. The soundtrack is a brilliant fusion of cosmic funk, soul, rock and R&B. White recorded the songs in a record breaking 2.5 days while filming the movie in a 7-day period. White delivers an array of fiery and soulful melodies while belting out every note and inflection with power White will take the listener back to the good ole days of 70’s & 80’s.
Karyn White has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. Her upcoming plans include appearing as a series regular in the BET sitcom "Beauty and the Baller;" created & produced by Emmy Award winning writer Michael Ajakawe. White also debuted in Lionsgate feature film “American Bad Boy Starring Kat Williams. She is also gearing up for tour dates in South Africa, UK & Japan.
Unathi, is the modern day African Renaissance Woman that continues to evolve through time. She is a singer, radio host, DJ and TV presenter. Born in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape and attended, Rhodes University, where she studied journalism and drama. She’s best known for hosting radio shows on the youth station YFM and on the Metro FM’ show with Glen Lewis. Unathi was also on the judging panel of Idols SA. She has been nominated and awarded several awards over her very successful music career. Unathi has shared the stage with several top musicians, including John Legend, Youssou N’Dour and Chaka Khan – and at a performance for the United Nations delegates she evoked such strong emotions that legendary producer Quincy Jones gave her a standing ovation and joined her on stage during her performance to sing her praises. One of her proudest achievements is composing her song “Sgubhu” which features on the soundtrack for the Oscar/Academy Award winning movie “Tsotsi”.
Paxton Fielies, winner of Season 13 Idols SA, to date their youngest winner and first person to receive a golden ticket. She has recently released her brilliant debut single and music video called “Demonstrate” and also released the duet “Smother”, a collaboration with Craig Lucas (Winner of the Voice South Africa 2017). She sang at the World’s Children’s Prize ceremony held in Sweden in April this year and has been selected as the Foundation’s ambassador for its new initiative ‘You Me equal Rights’, aiming at advocating for equal rights for both girl and boy children. Paxton together with eight other ambassadors were awarded the Crystal Globe Award for their participation at the prize ceremony and in advocating for children’s rights. She is also being trained to become an active ambassador for children’s rights".

Sasha Lee Davids was born in Atlantis in the Western Cape, is a professional singer and the 2009 co-winner of SA Idols 5. She is also the winner of the 2008 reality TV show "Matrix" 2. After a two-year gap, Sasha Lee returned into the limelight with a reality TV show called The House of Davids or Huis van Davids. It showcased the lives of the Davids family and their involvement in the community of Atlantis. She released her début album, “Sasha-Lee” and had the opportunity to work with Jamie Jones, lead singer of the Grammy Award winning group All-4-One, on a track entitled, “Before You”. Sasha Lee has recently performed in a variety of shows including Divas, Duets, Kaapse Jol, her very own show “Breaking Free” at the Baxter Theatre and numerous tours throughout South Africa.
G&T, SA female duo – best friends, Shelley Gordon and Sarah-Jane Thomas are taking the country by storm. Created by Chad Saaiman and Stereotype Talent Management, they are fun, playful, talented, vivacious individuals that take you on a musical journey covering your favourite and greatest modern hits. They released their debut single in September last year entitled “Shameless”, produced in the USA by multi-Grammy winner Khari “Needlz” Cain. Shelley won a recording deal after making the finals of Supersterre singing competition. As a result, she released multiple solo singles which all did well on the charts around the country. Sarah-Jane dons more than one hat as a singer and professional model. After studying at the South African Music College of UCT, she has gone on to perform on stages across the country as well as abroad.
Rene Johnson, this Cape Town songstress started singing at an early age after winning various talent shows. Rene was part of the pop group “Good Noize", a product of the Ridgeway brothers of “Rocking Horse” fame. Rene as a matured Jazz singer later fronted popular Cape Town band “N2” and soon become a regular performer on the CT club scene. She also travelled the globe performing and has worked with many international groups from Canada, UK, USA and Australia. This self- proclaimed Diva stole the hearts of Capetonians during that time with her energetic and lively interaction with her audiences. Her fans can look forward to more of the same after a long break from the Mother City.
Camillo Lombard, Divas 2018 Music Director. Camillo is a music director, pianist, composer, arranger, producer and recording artist. He is widely travelled and a sought-after performer and has performed at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival regularly, toured with various bands to many countries around the world. Camillo has performed with local and international music greats. Having a good understanding of the business practice of the music industry, Camillo is helping future generation of musicians acquire this knowledge, a vision he has for all musicians.
