South Africa's comedic ventriloquist Conrad Koch heads to the Baxter Theatre with his latest comedy show, Puppet Guy for two performances only on 23 & 24 September at 8.15pm.
Following the success of comedy acts such as Puppet Asylum, The Chester Missing Roadshow, and Missing, Puppet Guy showcases the guy behind the puppets with a unique take on ventriloquism. In his newest comedy production Koch takes his artistry to a completely new level of performance. Audiences will be introduced to a host of new characters in an inventive, creative and interactive way, bringing you the funniest and latest material in this hilarious new show.
Conrad gets back to the silly side of ventriloquism, talking to himself and the variety of odd puppet people that live in his head. In this production he discovers that his puppets have all gone missing. These characters have formed such an integral part of his persona, that now he needs to find a way of creating new puppets out of interesting objects surrounding him.
In this comedy ensemble of one Conrad, a double International Emmy nominated comedian makes everything from paper bags to feather dusters talk, as well as playing straight man to Chester Missing’s latest satirical take on him and everybody else.
Recognized as the top ventriloquist in the country with a MA in social anthropology, Conrad is a master in combining comedy with puppetry and delivering his perceptive take on the human complexities of society. Constantly exploring new avenues in the ventriloquial form the show promises to deliver a class act, with crazy and amazing characters, blended with social commentary and hysterically funny situations.

With his finger constantly on the pulse of what’s new and trending, to cultural and social issues where the drama of politics lends itself to all things theatrical, you can be guaranteed to get razor-sharp views and opinions from Conrad and his accompanied puppets on every topic imaginable as well as tons of pure silliness.
Comedy fans and those politically minded followers of his puppet analyst Chester Missing, can catch this brand-new show featuring new characters and his latest material that’s accessible to all lovers of comedy and ventriloquism.
Having worked in the industry for over fifteen years, Conrad’s shows have seen him perform locally and abroad, where he’s been featured on radio and television stations. He has performed at Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and is a frequent guest at most of South Africa’s biggest comedy events, and also a regular favourite on the comedy club circuit.
Puppet Guy is cleverly executed, fun to watch and takes on a fresh dimension to this art form. Performances will run on 23 & 24 September only in the Baxter Concert hall at 8.15pm.
