Press: Full Stops on your Face at Cape Town Fringe

Rust Co-Operative is bringing back Full Stops on your Face for the Cape Town Fringe Festival.

It was previously had a run at the Intimate Theatre in 2013, but Penny Youngleson has rewritten it to juxtapose a problemitising of violent crimes against women and children in South Africa with the politically charged conflict in Gaza. Iman Isaacs is still performing but she has 5 extra characters to play this time: including an elderly Jewish woman from Seapoint, a young Muslim man from Grassy Park, President Barack Obama and a machete-wielding burlesque dancer.

With a huge focus on Palestine and Israel in politics, as well the highly publicised Oscar Pistorius trial and almost daily reports of violence against women and children in the media - the idea of "their story, my story, our story" started to form; sparked by the thousands of protestors marching on 9 August in Cape Town: Women's Day.

If recent Rust Co-Operative successes are anything to go buy, Full Stops on your Face is a must see! Siembamba (with Lesoko Seabe and Nieke Lombard) won a Silver Ovation award at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and was invited to perform at the Amsterdam Fringe in the Netherlands. We came second in the Best International Production category at Amsterdam Fringe (Crazy in Love by Conspiracy of Clowns came first) and were listed in the top 4 productions by NRC (the national newspaper of the Netherlands) where the festival and the listed productions (including us) were all given 5 stars by the paper.
